As part of our larger Curio Platform we convinced Clarks to include a luxurious printed publication, free for consumer pick-up at select boutique stores around the world. This 16 page broadsheet contained carefully curated content such as a trip to Steads Leathers in Leeds, Clarks suede supplier for over 60 Years. We looked at the 65th Birthday of the celebrated Desert Boot, interviews with the craftsmen and women at Somerset HQ, and a fantastic article on The Mods, Rudeboys and how Jamaican music has long played a long role in Clarks Originals legacy. We talk to a group of 5 UK influencers about a limited ‘Made in UK’ project they helped produce, we guide you through Clarks huge shoe archive with research archivist Tim Crumplin and get deep in the design process with shoe designers on the new Trigenic technologies.
A highlight of the paper was interviewing esteemed publications and editors David Fischer of HighSnobiety in Berlin and Ryan Willms of Inventory Magazine in Vancouver for their own personal tales of Clarks, their take on style and what they think make’s an icon.
